HALL OF FAME FLIES FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF
FOR REFEREE / JUDGE GUY JUTRAS
CANASTOTA, NY - APRIL 3, 2026 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of Hall of Fame referee / judge Guy Jutras who passed away today at the age of 95.
"Guy Jutras dedicated his life to the sport of boxing and was highly respected by his peers and colleagues,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “The Hall of Fame offers our condolences to his family and joins the boxing world in mourning his passing.”
Born on March 22, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Jutras is a former amateur and professional boxer. Involved in many facets of the fight game, he is a veteran judge (1980-2011) scoring such bouts as Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Roberto Duran, Wilfredo Gomez vs. Rocky Lockridge and Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez and referee (1969-1997) serving as third man in the ring for bouts involving Wilfred Benitez, Eusebio Pedroza and Michael Spinks among others. He officiated over 70 world championship bouts as a judge and referee and also worked in various capacities with the World Boxing Association (WBA) for two decades.
In 2019, Jutras was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
